Safe in the Arms of the Shepherd...

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want… such a smooth vibe to this particular scripture! Psalms 23 is a chapter in the book of Psalms that I have read so many times that I have it memorized. It’s like it is embedded in my heart!

When life has delivered some unexpected blows and some mental levels of uncertainties –even anxieties and fears, this chapter has always left me some level of comfort. To meditate on the Word of God gives the soul a sense of release from all fears. I think about the “sheep” in this chapter and the fact that the sheep has to put total trust in the shepherd that is guiding him from one area to the next.

But I feel reassured since the Shepherd in this verse leads the sheep beside still waters, is with the sheep during time of fear, offers comfort and even prepares a table for him. I want you to think about this.

We are sheep under the guidance of the Shepherd and He protects us, he guides us, he provides safety for us, and he loves us.

Think about that today as you encounter all of life’s challenges today!

Psalms 23 –

KJV Bible

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
