Wellness for the whole you—mind, body, and soul.

“Oh, the Grace!”

I Peter 1:13 – “Wherefore gird up the loins of the mind; be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”

I titled today’s post -“Oh, the grace” because it’s just something about the grace of God.  There is something about a “superior” showing mercy to an “inferior”, when the “inferior” does not even deserve it.  Some of you may try to argue that we deserve God’s grace and that we deserve the love of a loving God.  But I ask you what have you done to support that argument?

God sacrificed His only begotten Son to save us from death, hell and even ourselves.  It was the ultimate sacrifice above any gift or sacrifice you could ever give.

So back to this grace that He gives us – it is unmerited and undeserving.  Grace in this particular verse, suggests that it is the merciful kindness by which God exerts His holy influence to turn us to Christ and to give us strength, knowledge, and affection for all that He is.  It is important to understand that God has put forth major effort to put your view towards his Son and the sacrifice of His Son because it strengthens your relationship with Him.  He sees our spiritual condition and is willing to do ALL that he can to restore your spiritual condition by mending the relationship that you have with Him.

The great thing about God’s merciful kindness is that it is unconditional.  There are no stipulations for you to receive this grace – no cause / effect to this process.

I love I Peter because the writer wanted us to focus on equipping our minds with the Word which will support and protect our minds of our perception of God but in doing so we must be clear minded and maintain hope of the grace.

Hope in the grace that He has proven to us through sacrifice!

Journal thoughts:

    1. God sacrificed His Son as a show of his merciful kindness that he has towards me.  All because he wanted to mend the relationship that I have with Him.  Write down your thoughts about the sacrifice and your gratitude to God.
    2. Think of a time when you did not deserve the grace of God and write down your testimony.

Lord, thank you for your unmerited favor.  Thank you for your grace and merciful kindness that led to your sacrifice for me.  Your son, Jesus Christ, died so that I might have a right to life everlasting and thank you God for giving me this opportunity to live beyond death.  In Jesus name, AMEN.
